Slippery Elm Bark

What you CAN do ...

image1666

This is a most wonderful healing remedy for respiratory ailments. The bark of the Slippery Elm tree made into a tea or concoction, is like having a broom for your lungs. It causes the mucus secretions to become less sticky, making it easier to expel mucus, along with any other foreign matter from the lungs. Have a tissue handy for coughing or sneezing as your body rids itself of the mucus. Then, WASH YOUR HANDS!

Use 1 tsp. ground Slippery Elm Bark in 1 cup of boiling water. Steep for 15 minutes, then sip.

You can also add 1 tsp. Ground Slippery Elm to 2 oz. applesauce and take. Be sure to drink a full glass of water after taking.

Asafaetida is the sap from the Hing Tree, and is also extremely useful in respiratory conditions.

Use 1 tsp. of the powdered compound (found in Indian markets) in 2 oz of Applesauce, once per week.

An old home recipe using Hing rocks is called "Asfizzidy", and is useful in many types of respiratory, cold & flu conditions. To make Asfizzidy:

1/2- 1 oz. Asafaetida rocks

1 Pint of grain Alcohol (Whiskey)

2 tbsp. Castor Oil

1/2 Pint Raw Honey

3 cloves of Garlic (minced)

Juice & Pulp of 1 Lemon

Mix all ingredients in a glass jar. Shake everyday for 3 weeks or until the rocks have dissolved.

If you prefer not to use alcohol, use the Asafaetida compound instead. But be aware that the compound also contains guar gum and wheat flour. These are generally harmless and safe for human consumption provided you have no allergies to these ingredients.

Take 1 tablespoon of Asfizzidy every day while experiencing respiratory symptoms. Take one Tablespoon once a week if you are at risk for or exposed to colds, flu, corona, or other  respiratory hazards.

Remember to always WASH YOUR HANDS and properly dispose of contaminated materials. Follow the Natural interventions during this colD, flu and COVID season!
